European Union Delegation to the Arab Republic of Egypt


During the meeting with EUDEL to the Arab Republic of Egypt, discussions focused on the need for support in formulating Egypt's project and program requirements. Additionally, there is a need for assistance in obtaining INSARAG certification to enhance Egypt's disaster response capabilities.

 

United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR)


In the meeting with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), potential partnerships were explored, particularly in prevention by UNDRR and preparedness/response by ISTC through PPRD Med. PPRD Med aims to work with UNDRR's to identify national focal points in disaster risk management (DRM) units and provide necessary background information.


 

Major General M. Hegazy, General of the Council of Ministers for Crisis, DRM department


The Council of Ministers for Crisis, a newly established entity for crisis management and major risk coordination in Egypt, was discussed in the meeting with Major General M. Hegazy. Further discussions will occur at the 2nd Steering Committee in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.

 

Major General G. Bahaa, Head of Civil Protection at the Ministry of Interior / General Administration of the Civil Protection (GACP)


During the meeting with Major General G. Bahaa, Head of Civil Protection at the Ministry of Interior, the General Administration of the Civil Protection (GACP) outlined key needs that PPRD Med could address, such as advanced firefighting, rescue techniques, water rescue, CBRN Hazmat training, and assistance in obtaining INSARAG certification. PPRD Med plans to conduct a pilot project in Egypt based on GACP's priorities and will propose a National Roadmap for implementing activities in Egypt.

 

League of Arab States (LAS)


In the meeting with the League of Arab States (LAS), discussions included institutional cooperation and high-level dialogue on disaster risk reduction. Invitations for mutual visits and participation in upcoming disaster risk reduction events were also extended. Technical cooperation was discussed, including sharing examples of pilots, exploring ISTC's participation in maritime disaster projects, and proposing pilots on various disaster risks in LAS Member States. Invitations for further workshops and response exercises were extended to strengthen collaboration.
